LogCabin Diagnostic Tool

‚ÄčOur LogCabin Diagnostic Tool is designed to make sure your workstation is configured to run Passages, collect relevant log files, and check firewall rules and registry keys. If Passages Support has requested your LogCabin files, here's how to run it:


Windows:

  1. Download the LogCabin executable here: https://download.getpassages.com/customer_support/LogCabin.exe
  2. After it has finished downloading, locate the file in your Downloads folder (or wherever it was saved).
  3. Right-click on LogCabin.exe and select Open. NOTE: You may be prompted for Local Administrator credentials.
  4. The Command Prompt will open. Type run and press the Enter key.
  5. LogCabin will begin collecting your logs. When it's complete, you will see the text “Diagnostic complete."
  6. A .zip file will now appear on your desktop. Example: passages_UserName_logs.zip
  7. Close the LogCabin window.
  8. If you are not already in contact with Customer Support, please email us at support@getpassages.com to request a link to upload your files through our secure file sharing service.
 


macOS:

  1. Open Finder.
  2. Select Applications from the side menu.
  3. Right click on the Passages application.
  4. Select Show Package Contents.
  5. Select Contents > Utilities.
  6. Double-click on LogCabin.
  7. The LogCabin window will appear. Type run and press the Enter button.
  8. LogCabin will begin to collect your log files. When it's finished, you will see the text "Diagnostic complete."
  9. A .zip file will now appear on your desktop. Example: passages_UserName_logs.zip
  10. Close the LogCabin window.

Users on v2.3+:

Passages v2.3 and later includes the LogCabin Diagnostic Tool as part of of the application. To run the LogCabin on v2.3+, open the Passages Icon menu by selecting the Passages Icon located in the Taskbar on Windows or the Menu Bar on macOS. Select Run LogCabin Diagnostic Tool.

Note: If you are unable to launch Passages, you will need to download and run LogCabin following the standard instructions at the top of this article.



The LogCabin Diagnostic Tool will run a series of tests and compile your log files into a compressed .zip file on your desktop. A notification window will open and let you know that file with your diagnostic results is available on your desktop. Select OK to close the notification window.



You can also locate your log files using the following file paths:

Windows: %USERNAME%\Desktop\passages_USERNAME_logs.zip
macOS: ~/Desktop/passages_USERNAME_logs.zip

After your .zip is created, please contact us at support@getpassages.com to request a link at which to upload your logs for review.
